My aurora diary provides some details of the auroras that I have photographed in Iceland. The images provided in this diary are not necessarily the best-composed or even the most beautiful ones from each night. Rather, I have tried to select a representative range of images that provides a good overview of how each aurora looked with regard to structure, colour and intensity on each evening.
Please note that this site reflects my own personal observations and is in no way meant to comprise a comprehensive record of auroras in the entirety of Iceland! I visit Iceland intermittently, and there are many additional periods where the aurora is active that are not documented on this site. I also tend to search for auroras only in my local area, and it is often the case that it is cloudy where I am but clear in other locations where people may report aurora. If you are interested in seeing more frequent reports of the aurora in Iceland then please consider joining the Facebook group Aurora Iceland where many people post their photographs. Additionally, information on appropriate camera settings for photographing the aurora can be found on my how to photograph the northern lights in Iceland page and details of the settings that I have used are also provided in the image captions throughout my aurora diary.
