A clear arc of aurora could be seen low in the northern sky this evening, which I first noticed at 21:55 UTC and which was still going strong at midnight when I ended my observations. This aurora was predominantly of moderate activity, but there were brief spells of stronger activity including some flickering movement along the band at around 22:50 UTC. The main green arc was mostly at around 20 to 25 degrees to the north, but on camera (and faintly to the eye) were purple-reddish tops to 35 degrees. A few images from this evening are provided below.
