There was a weak striated band of aurora in the east when I arrived at site just before midnight, which stayed in the sky without much change for the first period. This was a pale white-green to the eye. After 00:36 it started to intensify and became a more obvious green colour to the naked eye (Image 1). At 00:48 there was a brief burst of tall rays to the north-east which had purple tops on camera (Image 2). The striated band expanded horizontally, dissipated and moved northwards at 00:53. Activity after that was in the north, with aurora covering much of the northern sky but at only weak to moderate intensities. There were some curtained bands and rays, but also large areas of just unstructured green appearance (Image 4). I went home at 01:00, which was a pity as the magnetometers showed a sharp dip just after 01:00!
